Before choosing a supplier, most people read reviews. For an SMB, a few dozen authentic, recent reviews can make a big difference.
Ask at the right time
Right after a success: an approved file, a completed job, a client who thanks you. That's when they're most willing to write.
Make it easy
Send a direct link to the review form on your Google listing. No complicated instructions. A QR code on a card or an invoice works too.
Ask every time
Build the request into your process, for example an automatic email a few days after a project ends. What isn't systematic gets forgotten.
Reply to every review
Thank people for positive reviews. For negative ones, reply calmly, acknowledge the problem and offer a solution. Future clients read your replies too.
What you should never do
- Write fake reviews or buy them.
- Offer a reward in exchange for a positive review.
- Ask only satisfied clients while misleadingly filtering out the others.
These practices violate Google's rules and may breach laws on misleading advertising. They expose your business to having your reviews removed and to penalties.
Put your reviews to work
With your clients' permission, feature their reviews on your website, with their first name and company. It's one of the most convincing forms of proof.
